From Strawberries to Georgia Peach Season

If you’re feeling a little antsy for summer, you’re not alone. We’ve seen it in a big way this year, especially in the response to Home Delivery Early Access. The excitement and the speed at which boxes are selling make it clear: you’re ready for peaches. And honestly, so are we. (If you’re not sure what Early Access is, make sure you’re signed up for emails so you don’t miss out next time!)

But as much as we’d love to make it happen sooner, peaches don’t work that way. No special weather, tractor, or amount of hoping can rush them along. The earliest varieties we harvest during the Georgia peach season arrive around the third week of May. Until then, we wait.

So, what are we eating while we’re counting down the days to peach season?

Strawberries. But not just any strawberries: Georgia strawberries, picked at the peak of spring.

Why Fresh Georgia Strawberries Taste Best

Here’s something most people don’t think about: the strawberries you find in grocery stores were bred to travel. Over the past couple hundred years, they’ve been developed to hold their shape, last longer, and survive the journey from farm to shelf.

The sweetest, juiciest strawberries, the ones that truly taste like spring, are fresh. Which means they don’t always make it far from where they’re grown. That’s why the best way to experience Georgia strawberries is to get as close to the source as possible. The most flavorful varieties were foraged for thousands of years. (Peaches, for comparison, have been farmed for thousands of years, dating back to ancient China. The perfect peach takes time!)

Strawberry Season in Georgia

Across the state, you’ll find U-pick farms and local spots where you can taste strawberries the way they were meant to be enjoyed: fresh, warmed by the sun, and full of flavor. We only know about one place called “The Sweetest Spot in Georgia”: Reynolds. (Call us biased: Reynolds also grows some of our best peaches.)

And if you happen to be near Reynolds, Georgia, there’s something even more special waiting for you.

The Georgia Strawberry Festival

Right in the heart of Georgia’s fruit country, Reynolds hosts the annual Georgia Strawberry Festival, a celebration of community, tradition, and, of course, strawberries. This year, it falls on April 25th, 2026.

What started in 1998 as a small springtime gathering has grown into a beloved event that draws thousands each year. Today, the Georgia Strawberry Festival brings together families, farmers, and visitors for a full day of fun and flavor. You’ll find:

  • Arts and crafts from local vendors
  • Food stands serving seasonal favorites
  • A lively parade filled with creativity
  • Live music and activities for all ages

And a few can’t-miss traditions like the strawberry pie eating contest, the weenie dog race, and the always-entertaining pet parade costume contest. The Wainwright family, who farms most of our peaches for The Peach Truck, happens to sponsor the Georgia Strawberry Festival and our favorite U-pick, the Strawberry Patch. If you know our peaches, you know it’s worth the drive, no matter where you live.

From Strawberries to Georgia Peach Season

Reynolds isn’t just home to the strawberry festival; this is also where many of our peaches are grown. It’s where our home delivery orders are fulfilled. And it’s where the same farmers who grow incredible strawberries are preparing for the start of the Georgia peach season.

Strawberries arrive first, reminding us that warmer days are here, and then, without missing a beat, peach season begins. Those first peaches are something special. Handpicked at just the right moment, tree-ripened, and ready to be enjoyed the way they were meant to be. And the best part? You don’t have to travel to Georgia to experience it. We bring that same orchard-fresh experience straight to you.

Whether you’re planning to:

We provide an easy way to make peaches a part of your summer. Peach season may not be here just yet, but it’s closer than you think, and boxes are already selling fast. Be sure to reserve your peaches here and have something sweet to look forward to after strawberry season.
