So Many Types of Peaches to Discover

The flavors of peach season evolve as it moves from early June to late August. The first early-season peaches often arrive lively and refreshing. As the weeks roll on, peaches become juicier and sweeter. By the time late-season peaches arrive, the flavors are rich and deeply satisfying.

Kind of like summer itself; starting fresh and bright, then slowly settling into those long, warm, golden days we wish would last forever.

Early June

After a long wait through winter and spring, early June brings our first round of peaches. Some peach varieties that may begin the season include:

• Flavorich
• Caro Red
• Spring Prince
• Gold Prince
• Crimson Lady
  

These peaches often carry delicate floral aromas and notes of citrus and honey. They are the kind that make you pause after the first bite and say, “Ahh..summer’s here.” 

Mid-June

As June continues, more peach varieties begin to ripen across the orchard. Around this time, your subscription may include:

• Ruby Prince
• Desiree
• Gala
• Coronet
• Clemson Pride
• Country Sweet
• Mac 2
  

While Ruby Prince peaches are going to give you a smooth finish with notes of vanilla cream and white flower, Gala peaches are going to be firm and juicy with flavors of citrus zest and honeysuckle.

Late June

By late June, the harvest is well underway, and some of the most beloved peaches of the early summer begin to appear. Varieties you might find during this window include:

• Cary Mac
• Blaze Prince

The Harvester peach is a longtime favorite thanks to its well-balanced, tangy flavor featuring notes of black tea, cloves, and citrus.

Early July

This is the time of year when peaches are in full swing. In early June, you may get to taste some of the following varieties:

• Fire Prince
• Winblo
• Bounty
  

The Bounty peach is juicy, smooth, and full of flavor. The perfect peach for eating fresh from the box, bare feet in the grass, juice running down your chin.

Mid-July

At this point in the peach season, we’re about halfway through the harvest, with new peach varieties consistently popping up. During this stretch of time, your box may include:

The Cresthaven peach is a well-loved variety featuring beautiful aromas of honey, chamomile, and rose, and an even better flavor. 

Late July

As summer settles in, peaches begin to develop a deeper, richer flavor. Some options that may ripen during this time include:

• Sun Prince
• Carolina Gold
  

The Flame Prince peach is known for its bold color and sweet flavor notes, like caramel and vanilla.

Early August

By early August, peaches are often at their sweetest. Perfect for slicing over ice cream, baking into pies, and sharing with friends. Varieties you might find during this time are:

• August Prince
• Montgomery Gold
  

For many people, the O’Henry peach is considered one of the best peach varieties of the season. Featuring rich flavors of plum, fig, toffee, and honey, these peaches are truly a decadent treat.

Mid-to-Late August

Summer is beginning to wind down, and the final, late-season peaches have arrived. To close out the season, you may receive the following varieties in your box:

• August Lady

These peaches are juicy, fragrant, and full of that classic peach flavor. A perfect way to round out the summer before the season comes to an end.

Our 4-week subscription is the perfect option for those looking for a taste of the season. Depending on when your deliveries begin, you’ll likely enjoy a wide array of different peach varieties picked during that stretch of time.

8-Week Subscription

The 8-week subscription is for our true peach lovers. This full-season option gives you the experience of tasting peaches over the course of the whole summer. It’s the closest thing to following the orchard from the very first harvest all the way to the final peaches of the season.
